As one of the oldest school of Mango, Kerala Public School was established in 1995 in Mango with a unique motto to provide ‘quality education at an affordable cost’. Kerala Public School Mango is one of the nine schools managed by the Trust. KPS is an English Medium Co-education School dedicated to the benefits of all sections of society irrespective of religion, caste, creed or any other sectarian consideration. So, Kerala Public School is an abode of education. It is affiliated to the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi.
This was the first school set up by the KPS Trust. The school started in a rented campus with grades from L.Kg to class VI and only 500 children on its roll. The first batch of twelve teachers with Mrs Manorema Ramdas, the first principal started to tread their way towards fulfilling the vision of Kerala Public School, Mango. In 2005 it shifted to its new campus which is spread over two acres of land.
Additionally, the school is also affiliated to the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for Std. IX and X, to support students who find it difficult to cope with the regular ICSE curriculum.
The School also runs an absolutely free afternoon Hindi Medium School from Std I to Std. VII, to caters to the needs of 655 children from the neighbourhood.
The curriculum and the vision of the school aims at all round development of the children. Students are given every opportunity to excel in academics, sports and cultural field. Senior leaders take active part in all environment related activities. Our Chairman, Late A.P.R Nair(Founder Chairman) and Vice Chairperson Mrs Vijayam Kartha have founded the Eco network for all schools of Jamshedpur and an Eco Task Force which involves prominent citizens of the town.
In these many years, the Senior leaders of the school have received many national awards - to name a few, our Chairman, Late A.P.R Nair (Founder Chairman)received Nagar Ratan Award,Vijay Gujral Award, Varishtha Shree Award, Award from YMCA our Vice ChairPerson Mrs Vijayam Kartha was awarded the National Award for Teachers (President’s Award) in 2007, Most Outstanding Woman Social Worker Award, Sarvothama Acharya Award( National level). The school was the 7th Best Green School at national level for three consecutive years.
We believe that our students will bring credit to their Alma Mater by spreading the light of knowledge which we, as an institution, kindle in their heart. Currently the school is headed by Mr. Sharat Chandran, Director and Mrs Alka Sinha, Principal, Mrs. Arti Bedi, Vice Principal. The managing team also includes three coordinators and nine HODs and several qualified faculty members. It has strength of 2750 students.
The great end of education is to discipline rather than to furnish the mind; to train it to the use of its own powers, rather than fill it with the accumulation of others.
